ਫਲੋਰੀਡਾ(ਬਿਊਰੋ)— ਕ੍ਰਿਸਮਸ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਂਤਾ ਇਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧਤ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸਾਂਤਾ ਆਸਮਾਨ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਡਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਈ ਤੋਹਫੇ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇੰਝ ਹੀ ਤੋਹਫੇ ਵੰਢਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਇੱਥੇ ਇਕ ਸਾਂਤਾ ਦੀ ਲੱਤ ਟੁੱਟ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਦਰਅਸਲ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਦੇ ਫਲੋਰੀਡਾ ਵਿਚ ਗਲਫਪੋਰਟ ਬੀਚ ਉੱਤੇ ਇਕ ਚੈਰਿਟੀ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਂਤਾ ਬਣੇ ਜੇਰਾਰਡ ਕਰੋਕਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੋਹਫੇ ਵੰਡਣੇ ਸਨ। ਖਾਸ ਗੱਲ ਇਹ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਕਾਈਡਾਇਵਿੰਗ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪੈਰਾਸ਼ੂਟ ਵਿਚ ਉੱਡਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਆਉਣਾ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਕੰਮ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਜਾਮ ਦੇਣ ਲਈ ਜੇਰਾਰਡ ਨੇ ਪੈਰਾਸ਼ੂਟ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਹਵਾਈ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਤੋਂ ਛਾਲ ਮਾਰੀ। ਸਭ ਠੀਕ ਚੱਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਅਚਾਨਕ ਹੀ ਤੇਜ਼ ਹਵਾ ਆਈ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੰਤੁਲਨ ਵਿਗੜ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਦਰਖਤ ਨਾਲ ਟਕਰਾ ਕੇ ਧੜੱਮ ਨਾਲ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਉੱਤੇ ਡਿੱਗ ਪਏ। ਉੱਥੇ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਇਆ। ਫਿਲਹਾਲ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਟੁੱਟੀ ਲੱਤ ਦਾ ਇਲਾਜ਼ ਚੱਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
**WARNING: disturbing video** So last weekend before work, I walked Duncan down to the beach to watch a little volleyball. As a bonus, a couple of Santas were scheduled to parachute in and land at the tournament. I recorded it so I could send what was sure to be a cool video of skydiving Santas to my nieces and nephew. This happened. The parachuter is recovering from a badly broken leg, but is otherwise in good spirits. I wasn’t sure what to do, if anything, with the video, but when Brittany Russell commented on a FB story about the accident and mentioned that I had a video, the news stations started reaching out. So now that it’s on a few different news stations, I guess it’s okay to put out here. Best wishes for a speedy recovery to this Santa’s Helper.
